Title: Redesigning the Future: NLN Logo Design Competition

 

Purpose: To engage young Nigerians in the reshaping of the National Library of Nigeria's brand identity by creating a new corporate logo that reflects the institution's heritage, vision, and its role in promoting literacy and knowledge across the country.

 

Target Audience: Young Nigerians aged 15-30 with a passion for design, creativity, and storytelling.

Competition Objectives

To encourage young people to contribute to the cultural and intellectual development of the National Library of Nigeria.

To foster creativity among the youth by giving them an opportunity to design a symbol of national pride.

To establish a modern and visually appealing logo that represents the evolving vision of the National Library of Nigeria as a hub for knowledge, innovation, and heritage.

 

  • Eligibility: The competition is open to Nigerian citizens between the ages of 15 and 30.
  • Theme: The logo should embody the mission of the National Library of Nigeria to preserve heritage, promote literacy, and inspire future generations.
  • Design Requirements:
    • The logo should be original and innovative.
    • It should be simple, memorable, and visually appealing.
    • The design should be versatile enough for use on digital platforms, print media, and merchandise.
    • Incorporate elements that symbolize knowledge, culture, and national unity.
  • Format: Submissions should be a high-resolution PDF or PNG format, with a brief description explaining the concept behind the design.

 

  1. Online Submission: Participants must submit their designs via an online portal hosted by the National Library of Nigeria. The portal will be accessible at www.litforlife.africa.
  2. Entry Deadline: All entries must be received by 8th November 2024.
  3. Concept Description: Each submission should include a 100–200-word description of the design, explaining the symbolism and the inspiration behind the logo.

 

  • Relevance: How well the logo reflects the mission and vision of the National Library of Nigeria.
  • Creativity: Originality and uniqueness of the design.
  • Simplicity: The design should be clean and easy to recognize.
  • Versatility: The logo should be adaptable to different formats and uses.
  • Public Appeal: How well the logo resonates with the public.

  • The panel will consist of representatives from the National Library of Nigeria, professional graphic designers, and cultural icons.

 

  • First Prize: Cash reward of ₦500,000, a certificate of recognition, and an invitation to the NLN 60th Anniversary Celebration for the official unveiling of the new logo.
  • Second Prize: Cash reward of ₦300,000 and a certificate of recognition.
  • Third Prize: Cash reward of ₦200,000 and a certificate of recognition.

 

  • Winners will be announced on 15th November 2024 on the National Library of Nigeria’s website and social media channels.
  • The winning logo will be officially unveiled at the NLN 60th Anniversary Celebration on 19th November 2024.

 

  • All submissions become the property of the National Library of Nigeria.
  • The winning design may be modified by professional designers to ensure it meets all branding requirements.
  • By participating, entrants agree to have their designs used for promotional purposes by the National Library of Nigeria.

 

  • This competition offers young Nigerians the opportunity to make their mark on a national institution and to play a part in shaping the future identity of the National Library of Nigeria. We are excited to see the creativity and passion that this generation will bring to the table.
